Meher Dance Company is an internationally recognized dance organization dedicated to advancing the art of Bollywood and Indian dance by creating a platform where individuals can cultivate, learn and enjoy diverse styles of dance. The company engages in an array of dance related services including but not limited to classes, workshops, private choreography, performances, special events, corporate and educational engagement, films, music videos, flash mobs, parties, online tutorials and much much more. MDC works closely with all clients to deliver customized dance productions to meet one's unique vision.

Meher Dance offers a variety of Bollywood and Indian dance classes, workshops, performances and choreography efforts for individuals, groups and organizations with all different backgrounds. On YouTube we showcase a variety of styles of Indian dance forms. We extend 20 - 60 min. dance workshops on these diverse forms and then we also do performances displayed in our videos within a mix of 5-6 min. sets. We can extend 2-5 different sets.

This is a more specific dance video where we display a fusion Indian dance that incorporates classical Indian dance along with modern contemporary moves. This in total is a 1-2 minute dance.

This is a unique Indian Fusion song where we displayed a variety of different western and Indian dance forms to showcase creativity and range. This piece is about 1-2 minutes in length.

The work samples provided show that we love to push the boundaries of dance and art by creating unique, clever and meaningful dance pieces that showcase a variety of different dance forms.

History

Meher Dance Co. has been sharing the art of Indian and Bollywood dance in the Chicago land area for over 12 years through classes, workshops, performances, educational as well as community events. We have worked with community entities like Navy Pier, Chicago Park Districts as well as City of Chicago Cultural Programming. We have also had the opportunity to work with local and international artists through film, web series and music videos.

At the forefront of today's dance scene, Meher Dance Company blends Indian dance with elements of contemporary and hip-hop dance styles to create a truly unique and dynamic experience. Meher strives to build awareness and education for the art of Bollywood and Indian dance through all of our services. Our hope is to always spread joy and light through dance and to inspire people to live and dance with grace!

We have worked with audiences of all different backgrounds from kids, adults, dancers/non-dancers etc. Basically if we know our demographics in advance we can prepare our material for them in any way that is ideal for them to learn and experience dance.

Traditional Folk/Ethnic Artform Statement

Our company focuses on Indian and Bollywood dance. Indian culture has is filled with rich music, movement, and storytelling and that too within a variety of different languages and dance forms. So we try to expand our work to include the breath of the diversity among Indian traditions with modern elements. We explore Indian Classical dances from Kathy, Odissi and Bharatnatyam to more folk dances like Garba, Bhangra and Raas to more contemporary styles like Hip Hop, Jazz and Contemporary. We try to honor our heritage through music and dance while trying to push the boundaries of the modern world.
