The Mackenzie O'Brien Band is a young country americana band playing covered songs as well as original music. They have been recognized as one of the midwest's premier festival bands and have been hired by numerous towns, park districts, and festivals. Perhaps, the best known of these is Country Thunder where they have performed in both 2021, and 2022. The band has opened for numerous country stars and the lead singer has landed over 25 of her own songs on small market radio in the USA and Europe.

We are a country americana band that is young, professional, and focused. We can play all cover songs as we are often asked to do so but can also play all original music in a country and americana genre. Lead singer Mackenzie has landed over 25 songs on small market radio and is growing in success and ability as a songwriter in Nashville (and Illinois). Mackenzie has performed close to 500 times since turning pro at the age of 18 5 years ago and the band has performed close to 300 shows together.
Song I wrote and recorded in Nashville called Envy. This is a live video of us at Joe's on Weed Street in Chicago. The song is about social media and how seeing so many people's best side (and not real side) creates jealousy and envy. I try to write songs that empower women as this reflects my current journey.
A song a wrote about my struggles trying to make it. It doesn't fully reflect the struggles of a woman in a male dominated business but it does reflect my feelings of trying to make it. Filmed with my band.
It doesn't 100% reflect my newest songs that are more in an Americana style but you can get a feel for the band, my voice, and ability to perform.
History
Mackenzie started performing professionally after high school at the age of 18 and has done close to 500 paid performances since that time. At first she performed shows as a duo or trio but then added a full band to enable bookings at bigger venues and the ability to open for national acts and country stars. She has opened for numerous stars and national acts. As a songwriter Mackenzie has built success in Nashville (by traveling back and forth) and has worked with various companies in Nashville to build her brand which has been growing into a more empowered americana brand. She is endorsed by a hat company in Nashville, a high end guitar strap company in Mass. and by Breedlove guitars in Portland Oregon.
Artistic Vision
Writing and performing songs that don't stay stuck in the country genre. I want my songs to express empowerment through lyrics and melody and want my songs to touch people's lives. I hope people can find something in my original music that reflects the struggles of being human. Specifically or most often, the struggles of a being a young woman trying to find her voice. A couple of my recent song titles are "Your Momma Should Have Raised You Better", "Be a Real Man", "Love Languages", "Envy" and "Sugar Daddy Issues"
