Description
"Real country music sung by real people who know the human condition" (Reverb Raccoon). Chicago-based post-country quintet with whip-smart lyrics.
Work Sample
"White Flag," from the 2019 album Highway Gothic. 5:07. Video shot at The Den in Chicago.
"The Age and the Ache," from Highway Gothic. 4:33.
"Half," recorded in 2015. 3:00.
We play a range of songs from jangly to loud; these are on the jangly end of that spectrum. Knowing that you're looking for roots performers, we would keep sets within the roots/country genre.
History
We came together out of Chicago theater (specifically Strange Tree Group). Individual band members also play with the Dyes, the Parasites, Julie & the Drug Squad, the Unswept, and Boom Boom Chuck and the All Y'alls. In Chicago, we've played at Montrose Saloon, Martyrs, and Paper Machete, among others.
Artistic Vision
Post-country rooted in lyrics, with crunchy bits.
