History
Stardust to Moonglow, Gershwin to Nat King Cole, Jodi is an award-winning vocalist and pianist who tours the country enchanting audiences with her velvet voice. Her warm and engaging performances take you on a journey through The Great American Songbook, weaving elegant musical arrangements with sentimental stories of the music, composers, and cherished musicians from this timeless era of American music. Truly from birth Jodi has been warming people's hearts with pure and beautiful vocal tones. At the age of five she started piano lessons and could read sheet music before she could read English. While completing her degree in Vocal Performance from Judson University, Jodi capitalized on opportunities to perform throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Her position as Artist in Residence with colleges and high schools has allowed countless aspiring young singers to learn from these experiences. In 1997 Jodi formed her own trio and has grown that into the full time endeavor heard today as The Jodi Beach Trio. The Trio has spend the last twenty-six years arranging, concertizing, traveling, and recording the music they love. They often appear as a quartet with the wonderful addition of a saxophone.
Artistic Vision
The art, beauty, and grace of vocal jazz: Art is, by its very nature, something that inspires emotion in the experience. No other form of art can so quickly, so exactly, call up such an impacting range of emotions as vocal jazz. Elegant ballads, beautiful love songs, warm swaying Latin rhythms, hot stomping swings, all take the listener through a lifetime of memories in a matter of minutes. Melody and lyric surround us everywhere, not by chance, but by design because these are essential elements of life. Jodi Beach is not simply a singer/pianist, she is a story teller, a theme weaver, a scrapbook of our lives presented in song. Her performances walk the listener through a gallery of fine works by the masters and let them linger in their grace. "Timeless" best describes a Jodi Beach concert. Music that is as alive today as it was when first heard, enjoyed by audiences young and old, all touched by these essential elements of life.
