Joan Hammel

Description

Joan Hammel performs a variety of music by some of the greatest female vocalists including pop, rock, jazz and the American Songbook genres. She also performs some of her originals. She has specialty shows of patriotic music, shows for seniors, jazz and the American Songbook. She sometimes performs as a solo artist but usually sings with additional musicians such as a keyboard player, bass guitar, lead guitar and horns.

She has been nominated five times as Entertainer of the Year for the Chicago Music Awards, and has been on the Grammy Nominations Ballot. She has also won and Emmy and been nominated for the Native American Music Awards for a song she wrote and performed as a part of her time as Artist in Residence for the National Park Service.

Great for outdoor or other concerts, Joan is also good with kids and seniors including giving talks on her trip to Cuba or with the National Park Service, or a workshop making simple hand percussion instruments.

History

I am an entertainer who performs lives, as well on on tv, radio, in films and on recordings. I have been on the Grammy Nominations Ballot almost a dozen times, and have been nominated for other major awards including the NAMMYS (Native American Music Awards), Chicago Music Awards, and won ASCAP writer awards. A song I sang on is included in the 9-11 Memorial in NY and I have been on USO Tours entertaining the troops. Highlights have been performing at the Winter Olympics, in Las Vegas, various places in the Caribbean and being selected as Artist in Residence for the National Park Service.
