Edward David Anderson is an American songwriter and veteran of the road who spent his formative years fronting the revered Illinois band Backyard Tire Fire. Known for infectious melodies and memorable messages he penned 9 releases for the band and played countless shows across the US and Canada.

Work Sample

Chasing Butterflies is a album I made and released on my own Black Dirt Records in 2018. I traveled down to Muscle Shoals, AL and worked with a Grammy winning producer and a handful of local musicians.

I wrote and arranged and produced this EP for my band Backyard Tire Fire. We were never actually in the same room as it was recorded during the pandemic. I'm proud of the fact that we pushed through and finished this project. And that it sounds how I envisioned it.

Again, I wrote, recorded, mixed and produced this debut LIVE album in front of 2 sold out crowds over the course of a couple nights in Central IL and Chicagoland. It's raw, it's honest, it's a good representation of what I do on my own.

Those are 3 shining examples of what I do musically and the kind of songs I write. There are 13 other releases that have come out over the years as well.

I finished my masters degree and Illinois State University in 1997 and secured and recording contract shortly thereafter. That's when I started touring and traveling and playing for a living. My wife of 23 years and I recently started a family and I'm touring less these days. Trying to stay closer to home and to live a healthier life.
