The work samples showcase just a few different avenues I have used to carry out my vision - both as a composer and as a performer. I frequently collaborate with many of the finest musicians on the scene in the United States, Europe, and Canada. The pieces are of contrasting compositional output, and relate to the myriad of styles I frequently enjoy both composing and improvising in.
History
I have performed around the world at jazz festivals and concert series events, and have been fortunate to do so with many of the finest musicians and collaborators. I have been lucky to get to perform with some of the original creators of jazz music, and try to honor that tradition, while pushing the genre forward.
Artistic Vision
My artistic vision is to carry the torch of tradition in improvised jazz music, while honoring the legacy of those who created it. At the same time, I do not intend to be stagnant, and hope that I can push boundaries - stylistically and formally - while still creating art that moves and inspires people.
Programs for Specific Audience(s) Expertise
I have frequently given talks / masterclasses on improvisation to music students of all ages and skill levels. I have related jazz and improvisation on the bandstand to corporate structure and flexibility in the workplace, and have presented on audience engagement and what to listen for, and how to be an active participant as an audience member in the creative process.
