Description
I was found in a cardboard box when I was a week to 10 days old. I was found by the caretaker of the Tally Ho Apartment Bldg in Wheeling, West Virginia when he came to work and stumbled over a baby in a box. I became known as The Tally Ho Baby and the state of WV made me a Ward of the State - and provided for me for a month hoping my birth mother would come back and claim me. Four weeks passed and there was a dinner party for Judge Mckee. A young, prominent attorney named George Bailey and his wife, Lucretia, asked the Judge, "Did the baby's mother come back to claim her?" Judge said "no" that they were transporting me Monday morning to the state orphanage. Lucretia and George Bailey looked at him and said, "No you aren't - we want to adopt her." So Monday morning instead of being transported to the orphanage - Lucretia and George Bailey were in the judge's chambers - adopting The Tally Ho Baby. And they adopted me - Sight Unseen!
So I have felt like "giving back" to people all my life because I was so fortunate. I could have been left in a dumpster or drowned in the Ohio River. And the way I pay it forward is thru my music. All of my shows are "feel good" so that when my audiences leave, they not only feel entertained but they also feel happy and motivated to be the best person they can be. My shows are filled with humor - and they are about love and humanity, diversification and loving one another.
I love to sing Cabaret, Jazz, Blues & Theater. And I am a storyteller. In all of my shows - I tell stories that set up the next song. It has become a signature of mine! This is a nice review from ANDREW PORETZ - Critic for both "Broadway World" & "Theatre Pizzazz," NYC after my New York debut at Don't Tell Mama. 11/21/21
"Barb is a first rate storyteller…with a delightful mix of songs and stories of her journey from an abandoned baby in a box to a glamorous life in the Hollywood Hills. Her greatest talent is her ability to sell a story, whether in the wonderful anecdotes she shared or in her song delivery.
A powerful encore of "Here's to Life" was the perfect capper to an evening with Barb Bailey." (below is the full review)

Artistic Vision
My vision is to entertain my audiences - to make them FEEL something. To further their appreciation of good music. I sing the songs from The Great Amemrican Songbook - which encompasses Pop, Jazz, Blues, and Theatre. I am a storyteller in addition to being a singer. My stories set up my next song. I was found in a cardboard box when I was a 1-week old baby and all of my shows start with "Once upon a time a baby was found in a cardboard box - and that baby was me." My stories are all very humorous and also touching. I want to perform for the rest of my life. I love it. My audiences seem to love it too. I feel that I am not only promoting great music - but also I like to make my audiences think. My shows are very personable - no matter the size of the room (whether a club or a theatre) By the end of my shows my audiences really know me well. I touch on all kinds of subjects that people love.
