Work Sample
This is a live performance from November 15, 2014 at Evergreen College, WA. I performed in Quadraphonic at their theater (though presented here in glorious Stereo) with video.
New video to be released this fall on Estuary Ltd. (USA) for a DVD compilation of contemporary experimental generative video work.
I made this piece on the Sandin Image Processor (vintage 1970's Video Synthesizer) and scored the video in my personal electronic music studio.
A multi-sensorial performance presented by Andy Ortmann on November 20, 2010 at the New Capital Gallery space. The piece was recorded in Quadraphonic, as it was performed. Consisting of four different synthesizer operators and four motorcycle operators, the composition builds from a looming drone to a cataclysmic climax of fumes and frequencies. Performers were: Alex Barnett, Henry Glover, Beau Wanzer, Jeremiah Fisher, Greg Lunceford, Amovong Panya, Andrew Furse & Andy Ortmann. The recording will eventually see the light of day as a Quadraphonic LP. This piece was funded by an Arts Grant by the City of Chicago, Illinois Arts Council.
The 3 samples exemplify my Multi-Media practice, incorporating performance, sound & video elements.
History
For more than 20 years I have performed throughout the USA, Europe and Japan.
Artistic Vision
I make art to connect and to communicate. I invite the audience into a multi-sensorial world, one that is as activating as it is immersive. My work incorporates a combination of media, ranging from records/CDs/cassettes, multi-channel sound installations to drawings to radio to video to performance.
A common thread throughout my work is the Narrative, which allows me the ability to address a variety of subjects. My concern for such topics as technological progress and ecology, psychological trauma, human rights and ethical animal treatment have been exemplified in my work throughout the years. It is my intention to engage the audience's intellect as well as their imagination.
Programs for Specific Audience(s) Expertise
