Central Illinois Ballet and it's leadership team consist of a diverse group from many different Ethnic backgrounds. Each artist has experienced a unique path in life and all walks of faith or religion. Through our art, we are able to come together with a common purpose and strong belief in the importance of sharing our gift of dance with who need encouragement, empowerment and vision. Our responsibility as artists is to serve the underserved, shape the future generations and mentor those in need of support.
Work Sample
The Nutcracker, Presented by Central Illinois Ballet and it's Academy, Cornerstone Academy for Performing Arts. Performed consecutively each December, from 2013-2021 with the exception of December 2020 (Canceled due to COVID). Running time: 1hour, 45 min with a 15 min intermission. For the past five years, different smaller organizations in Galesburg, Decatur and Champaign Illinois have requested our Nutcracker as a family event in the area. Due to limited funds and or funding, the organizations have been unable to bring Central Illinois Ballet performances to their area.
Central Illinois Ballet presents it's 10 Year Anniversary Performance. Performed May 14th, 2022. Highlights from the past 10 years of CIB history including Classical and Contemporary works such as Romeo & Juliet, Firebird, Cinderella, Anne Frank, Phantom of the Opera, Dracula, Little Mermaid, Duende, Desde el Alma, and Sweeney Todd. Running time 1 hour and 30 minutes. An exciting mix of dancing for all ages, families, couples, seniors, students and children.
Central Illinois Ballet presents "Women of History", performed in the theatre as well as outreach and lecture demonstrations in February of 2021. Running time 1 hour. The production which consists of classical ballet, modern, contemporary and African movement was created specifically for young children and young girls and women to feel inspired and empowered by our strong historical women throughout history. Highlights include, Harriet Tubman, Hellen Keller, Anne Frank, Sacagawea, Queen Elizabeth I, Joan of Arc, and many more.
Nutcracker historically is a traditional family favorite, a Holiday tradition which remains a staple in each season of work we produce. Our 10 year Anniversary production encompasses every aspect of our tag line, Collaboration, Creativity, Community, which relates to every performance, lecture demonstration and outreach we have done the past 10 years.
History
Central Illinois Ballet chooses performances which will captivate, engage and inspire any and all audience members who attend performances, lecture demonstrations or outreach. The works we have chosen over the past 10 years always consist of a strong story line with many every day life teachable moments. Our works are meant to touch the heart and soul of every member in the audience and share the art of dance with those who are unable to experience it first hand or live.
