Description
Brassworks Brass quintet.
We perform a stylistic panorama of Broadway to Pop, R & B to Dixieland, and from Swing to classical music! Our repertoire includes familiar classical, patriotic Broadway, jazz, and popular compositions by composers Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Vivaldi, Clarke, Gershwin, Berlin, Ellington, Joplin and S.Wonder.
We offer a Holiday music program that is an ideal option late in the year.
We also have a special 'Music in The Schools' educational program/performance that introduces the Brass instruments to children.
This has been presented to rave reviews in numerous theaters and schools in the Chicagoland area.
The Brassworks traditional jazz or dixieland jazz group performs joyful and exciting music that includes favorite selections such as: When the Saints go Marching in, Aint Misbehavin, Tiger Rag, Muskat Ramble, Hello Dolly, etc.
The Brassworks Jazz duo, trio, quartet or quintet offers a wide range of popular and appealing Jazz standards to audiences. Also, we can add a male and/or female vocalist upon request.
Work Sample
This is a short video sample of 'Sesame Street' which is one of the selections we offer in our special 'Music in The Schools' educational program/presentation/performance that introduces the Brass instruments to children (and adults alike).
This 45- 75 minute program has been presented in many theaters and schools in the Northeast Illinois area.
The samples submitted are a small representation of the countless performances in several musical genres that we have given over the course of our careers.
History
Brassworks' ensemble members have performed with the Chicago Symphony, Lyric Opera, Grant Park, Ravinia Festival & Elgin Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Chicago Jazz Ensemble, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic and Chicago Jazz Orchestra. We have contributed to hundreds of concerts and presentations over the course of several decades. Our group's instrumentation is comprised of the trumpet, trombone, french horn and tuba and continues to provide outstanding musical as well as educational performances. The Jazz combo instrumentation can also include a saxophone/flute, Piano, Bass and/or drums. The group contains faculty members from the University of Illinois Chicago, North Park University, Columbia College, the Music Institute, North Central College and Oakton College.
Artistic Vision
I envision our group bringing the joy of classical and/or jazz music to a wide range of audiences. In presenting the music, we hope to create unity and bridge cultural divides
while presenting high quality and entertaining musical concerts and programs.
