Description
T. Daniel Productions views Mime is an art full of possibilities; an art that has taken audiences on a journey of inspiration, of artistic adventure as we discover what the art should be. We are creating a theatrical experience, with a breath of freshness, that explores classical music and Mime for the stage. From concerts of Mime and Clarinet to short movement studies to full stage productions, some based on classical music ( Boeuf sur le toit and Zaubernacht). We have a production to fit any performance space that we know audiences will enjoy. We are defining what mime is for the 21st century. Join us in our journey of commitment to artistic adventure through movement.
Work Sample
This video is three short mime works to classical music: Bach Inventions #12 (Converstions), #15 (Statues) with two clarinets and Debussy Girl With the Flaxon Hair on Piano.
There are samples of our work with classical music (innovations Project with clarinet and piano), large theatre plays with music (Le Boeuf sur le toit and Zaubernacht) and film of Benches taken in Paris. This, we hope, provides the range of productions and performances possible.
History
T. Daniel and Laurie Willets began their pursuit of a Mime Theatre while students at Illinois State University. After studying Mime with Marcel Marceau, Daniel and Willets returned to Paris to study with Etienne Decroux, Father of Modern Mime. TDP perform Mime at the highest caliber possible with innovative stage productions for the stage and with great orchestras ( Chicago Symphony Orchestra) and conductors (James Conlon) presenting Mime in a fascinating, artistic manner. TDP has created 20 full Mime productions and 38 works with live classical music, including the American premiere of Theo Lovendie's The Nightingale and of Stravinsky's L'Histoire du soldat with Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Ravinia Festival and James Conlon with an American Premiere, a new Mime play to Kurt Weil's lost score Zaubernacht (Magical Night) and perform with CSO. Numerous World Tours from Chicago to France, Sweden, Serbia, Austria, Spain, Turkey, Taiwan, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Iran, etc. Mime is a universal language, the human body "˜speaks'! To bring Mime into the 21st Century, TDP allows for more experimentation, for innovation with Mime on the stage and in the concert hall.
Artistic Vision
T. Daniel Productions seeks to provide a rewarding and memorable aesthetic experiences to its audiences, particpants, and supporters and to be a valued cultural asset of the world theatre community. In our work we want to express a Mime that goes beyond the simplistic movements of illusions, to foster a view of Mime that was the heart of the ideals of the masters of the art in the 20th century: Etienne Decroux, Jean-Louis Barrault, and Marcel Marceau.
T. Daniel Productions nfp is a theatre company that continues exploring and challenging the artistic mediums of Theatre and Mime, using as its base the human expression and human condition while not depending upon the spoken word. From its extensive dramatic studies of Theatre, Physical Theatre and Mime to full-stage plays and pantomimes to live musical theatre ensembles and productions, T. Daniel Productions continues its mission to take its audiences on incredible journeys full of intrigue, comedy and enchantment. T. Daniel Productions expresses itself in this statement: "What the Art of Mime should be."
